Highly regarded English judge and Springer specialist, Mr Don Miller (Feorlig Kennels), listed our Richo as one of the breeds all time 'bests' on the International ESS Symposium Website.

Our Beginnings

Our first Springer, Ch. Tancleuth Lil Bopeep (Lil) was purchased as a pup in 1983.

Ch Tancleuth Lil Bopeep (Lil) Ch Tancleuth Lil Bopeep was a daughter of NZ & Aust Ch. Wongan Clan Lassie (who was from the famous Australian pairing of Ch. Monclare Sugar N Spice and Ch. Clanach Argyle Tartan). Her sire was the Irish import Ch. Windyacres Heir Apparent, a NSW Speciality winner.

Lil's daughter, Ch Kinsheran Winter Rose, sired by Ch. Windmere Summer Knight, became the foundation of all our current stock.

Aus Ch Kinsheran Winter Rose (Rose).

Hawkhill and Cleavehill are the English lines that were prominent on the pedigrees of our early Springers but this is going back some generations now, particularly with our current crop.

Ch Windmere Summer Knight (Rose's sire)

Ch Windmere Summer Knight (Rose's sire) was bred from Jean Taylor's Cleavehill lines.

In the late 80s early 90s we also introduced the great Australian show dog of the time, Ch Clanach Wrath O'Khan and his sons.  Kinsheran Imran Kinsheran Imran, the result of a Khan / Lil mating, when mated to Ch Kinsheran Winter Rose produced Ch Kinsheran Domingo (a dual Melbourne Royal best of breed winner and NSW Sporting Spaniel BiS winner) and Ch Kinsheran Fontine (Eppi), Richo's dam.

Ch Kinsheran Domingo (Dom)

Rose when mated to Ch Cudgera Grand Slam produced the very elegant Ch Kinsheran Friar Tuck, winner of Puppy in Group at the 1993 Melbourne Royal. He was also a Sydney Royal Challenge winner.

With the assistance and generosity of our fellow breeders, we have been fortunate to produce and own some quality English type springers over the years including multi speciality and royal winners. Of note we think are: Ch. Kinsheran Domingo (Dom), Gr. Ch. Kinsheran Rich Pickings (Richo), Ch. Kinsheran Winter Rose (Rose), Ch. Kinsheran Friar Tuck, Ch. Kinsheran Praedives (Devo), Ch. Veni Vidi Vici (Veni), Ch. Kinsheran Nigella, Gr. Ch Kinsheran Darcy Dulton, Ch Kinsheran Kilimanjaro and Ch. Kinsheran Mandella (Nelson). There have also been other champions along the way.

Richo

Gr. Ch. Kinsheran Rich Pickings (Richo) was the top Victorian English Springer Spaniel from the mid 1990s to his retirement in 2002. He was sired by Aus & NZ Ch. Wongan Quest O Makatawa (Quest), a Ch. Clanach Wrath O Khan son and out of our own Ch. Kinsheran Fontine, a Khan grand daughter and a litter sister to Ch Kinsheran Domingo. Ch. Kinsheran High Society and Ch. Casino Royale were produced from the same litter.

Richo's Achievements and progeny

Richo had a stunning show career. He was a multi Best in Show all breeds winner, multi Speciality winner and multi Royal breed winner. From a slow start  (he was placed last in the baby puppy dog class at his first specialty show in 1993) - he went on to be a consistent speciality winner, under respected local and international breed specialists, including Ray Barrett (Cudgera), Kaye McGee (Fraelighte), Marie Merchant (Clanach), Wayne Douglas, and UK specialists Yvonne Billows (Robil) and Don Miller (Feorlig). Subsequently, Don Miller has listed Richo as one of the breeds all time bests on the International ESS Symposium Website. His most notable Royal win was arguably Best of Breed under the great UK judge F Somerfield at Sydney in 1997. Without doubt, his most memorable year at all breeds championship level was 1999 when he was the most consistent Melbourne Best in Group and Best in Show winning gundog, including two sequences of six group awards and two sequences of three Best in Show awards on the trot. That year alone saw him take out a total of ten BiS awards, together with almost as many RuBiS awards. He was Ozdogs Number 1 Australian ESS in 1999, 2000 and 2001, only to be replaced by his son in 2002!

Richo sired quality all breeds and speciality show winning progeny, including among others Ch. Kinsheran Praedives (Speciality BiS and multi All Breeds BiS winner), Ch. Kinsheran Diva Regina (Hitchcock - Speciality Challenge & RuBiS winner), Ch. Coranderrk Flame Tree (Quinlan), Ch. Coranderrk True Blue (Quinlan), Ch. Tholia Show Me The Money (Laurence), Ch. Kinsheran Nouv Riche and the outstanding brood bitch Ch. Baghasdail Blitz End (Toma) - dam of our own Ch. Kinsheran Veni Vidi Vici, a speciality and Royal challenge winner herself.

Ch Kinsheran Praedives (Devo)

Ch Kinsheran Praedives was used twice over Ch. Baghasdail Blitz End, producing Ch Kinsheran Veni Vidi Vici and under the Toma's prefix Ch. Baghasdail Be Blest who is a BiS Speciality and Melbourne Royal BOB and 3rd in Group winner.

Our latest Stars

Early in 2006 we used the very highly regarded NSW dog Grand Ch. Reiby Under Capricorn over Ch. Kinsheran Nigella to produce our current youngster Ch Kinsheran Kilimanjaro (Jara). Already a Speciality Best in Show winner, he was Puppy Gundog at the 2006 Melbourne Royal and subsequently Best of Breed and 2nd in the Gundog Group at the 2009 Melbourne Royal . The same litter produced the sensational all breeds Best in Show winning Ch Kinsheran Kalihari (Mara) owned by Shannon Lancaster in NSW and Ch Kinsheran Manyana (Myer) owned by Trevor and Sonia Webb in SA.
