We've been around a long time! We've been there, done that, as far as English Springer Spaniels are concerned!

Ch Kinsheran Larrikan (Larry): One our first home bred springer champions.
Kinsheran was established by the Roach family back in 1966. Bruce and Isobel Roach along with daughters Anita (now Stewart) and Sheryl, for many years bred and successfully exhibited Irish Setters under the Kinsheran prefix. It began with the purchase of a young adult bitch who died 6 weeks later from cancer. This bitch was replaced by the foundation bitch Ch Kilconnell Katrina (Kate) who arrived as a surprise present on Sheryl’s 13th birthday. Sheryl and Kate had great fun and success in the show ring and in child handlers over the years. The Roach’s were involved in all aspects of dog shows; Bruce loved Club administration, stewarding, show managing and judging and judged the first Irish Setter speciality show held in New Zealand. He was President of the Irish Setter Club during a time when the breed enjoyed extraordinary popularity. Isobel was often involved in the catering side of things and Anita and Sheryl handled many home bred dogs through to their championships and in show awards as well as handling for other successful kennels. Some other breeds (Gordon Setter, Whippet, Shetland Sheepdog) were also campaigned along the way. Sheryl served on the inaugural committee of the Junior Kennel Club of Victoria and for a number of years was a trainee judge for groups 3 and 4. That’s when English Springers first seriously took her attention. Studies in education and educational administration replaced studies in dogs and judging was not pursued. Anita had moved to Canberra and for some time continued breeding and exhibiting Irish under her own prefix. For a period of 7or 8 years the Kinsheran prefix was inactive. This changed when Sheryl purchased her first Springer, Ch. Tancleuth Lil Bopeep (Lil) in 1983.
